Another Holiday.....Another Day Off!

Wednesday was another holiday.....this one was Freedom Day (celebrating the first elections that were held here after Apartheid).  It was a really pretty day, so we decided to drive over to the Johannesburg Botanical Gardens.  One of the things I still have a hard time getting my head around is that "THIS IS AFRICA"!  It is so pretty here and still very green.  We are in the "Fall" season now and heading into winter,  Here are some pictures of our day.....

My favorite color!

Doesn't look like Africa to me :)

These birds make an awful noise when they squawk - but their beaks sure provide them with lots of "goodies"!

More rose garden and fountain.

Wildlife was represented in the water features throughout the park.

Still in the rose garden.

These next few pictures made us feel right at home.....

Lots of cacti!

Don't know what this flower is.....but it was interesting to look at.

Always spotting different kinds of birds.....

Don't know the name of this little guy but I liked his looks.

Lovely day!
Allan at the Huguenots Memorial - his Huguenot relatives were sent by the same East India Company to the Americas while these were sent to South Africa.

Love this tree - just my size!

On Saturday, we started at 6:30 am and after work the four Lees drove to Pretoria and did a family history presentation and training at a two ward Family Discovery Day event.

This is a beautiful chapel in a really pretty area on a hill.

Getting all of our "stuff' out to go inside.

Afte this event, we went out to an early dinner and had lovely pizza at Pizza Hut - a real taste of home.
Then off to see the BYU Young Ambassadors perform.  It was a full day but a very good one that ended at about 10;30 pm.

At church today in the Kensignton Ward, we were able to start our training with the newly called Ward Family History Consultant.  She will be great and we enjoyed getting to know her a little bit today.  More training to follow on Tuesday night.

AND more adventures to come.......
